A cautionary tale of tabloid twitter journalism

Reporters in the United Kingdom found themselves in trouble recently when they used twitter as a source for an article covering rumors of infidelity by French President Nicolas Sarkozy towards his wife Carla Bruni without fact checking the information.

As mentioned in the article, the temptation to jump the gun, so to speak, while using social media as a source for news stories is great for journalists and is more often than not to the detriment to their credibility.
